Leonard Cohen - Old Ideas - CD

Alan Stivell - Journey [1996] - DVD

699.00Kč

Stivell took up the harp as a young child and began to mix classical with a fusion of Scottish, Irish and Breton Celtic music arranged by his father, later in his teens fusing it further with rock music and since then he has been in search of new sounds and new avenues of musical exploration yet never far from his roots. "In a way I'm being pulled in two directions in that deep in myself my aim is to do today's music and to do new music every day, even if it' based on my Celtic roots, but at the same time I always want to show that I have authentic roots".
Stivell is proud of his Brenton heritage, the beauty of it's landscape to the tenacity of it's people. While his music rings that gamut from simple acoustic pieces to hard rock and hip-hop grooves, the lyrics often reflect Stivell's thoughtful, literate observations on Brenton life and history. However "I'm a citizen of the world before being a Brenton. While I think it's important to claim our identity, it's important to say that we are first human beings".
Stivells recordings reflect his "citizen of the world" philosophy in his choice of musicians. He has collaborated with a number of gifted artists over the years, from Kate Bush to Youssou N'Dour to Paddy Maloney.
Any Alan Stivell concert or recording demonstrates a great depth and passion, as could only be delivered by the father of modern Celtic music and if you aren't yet familiar with his music, this is an excellent place to start.
