Nomade - (dvd) - The Jew of Wandering - Yehuda Glantz and the Israel Symphony Orchestra World Beat sounds emerge from Latin American rhythms in Jewish Contemporary Soul Music Composed, Arranged and Produced by Yehuda Glantz Nomade was performed on The conception of “NOMADE” dates from a Tel Aviv wedding, (June 2004) when Doron Toister, 1st cello of the Israel Symphony Orchestra played the reception and chupa in one of my productions, and then asked me if he can play with the band. Without having ever seen the music before, Doron played Lecha Dodi straight off the page and gave an innovative sound to the song. Later he asked me if he can take the music to attempt to adapt the song for the Symphony.....
Three months later Doron showed up at my studio in Jerusalem with a recording of Lecha Dodi played by the Israeli Symphony Orchestra in concert at the Tel Aviv Cultural Centre.
From that meeting I began to create, produce and finalize the idea and conception for the Nomade project.

Eldad Eilat, a very talented film director joined the project. His first question was:
Yehuda...!! What do you want to say....??
I told him that Hashem doesn’t have his house, and if he doesn’t have his house, we can’t expect to have ours…..We are Nomades -- wanderers -- like Hashem, and I want to bring this conception to music that will touch my heart and others.

The repertoire for NOMADE is based on compositions from different places and situations in my career, as well as new music written specifically for this project.

I want to bring this feel of a wanderer returning home to the audience and through the melodies bring the audience and myself closer to the Creator – Hashem.

To all of you ….. And to the team that makes possible the realization of the NOMADE project ……Thank you so much… !!!! Toda Raba

Yehuda Glantz
Composer, Arranger & Producer
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Yehuda is a unique artist on the Israeli and Jewish world music scene. In his early years, his talent for music began to show and early music education helped him acquire a deep knowledge of music and a surprising number of instruments. Since 1979 he has lived in Jerusalem and his performances throughout the world have gained him renown as a first-rate artist. His many-faceted Jewish musical creations, incorporating pop, jazz, classic and South American rhythms, together with his electrifying and colorful appearance on stage, have appealed to a broad range of audiences worldwide. He has introduced many to the Charango, with its warm and authentic sound from Argentina, fused with words of the Jewish tradition to a singular and upbeat kind of music.

Yehuda sees his music as a way of opening channels of communication among people. When Yehuda appears on stage with his charismatic performance, even the formally attired are often transformed to a foot stomping assembly.

After 25 years of performing with small and large groups, Yehuda decided to try to convert his music to the format of symphony, an old vision of his father's. Taking his opus of 25 years, Yehuda chose those songs that succeed in combining opposites: beats, styles, countries, instruments and exploring how they work together. The audience that gathered that night was the same: from regular concert-goers to Rabbi Nachman followers, the hall was multi-colored, aged, ethnic-ked and rocking. It was hard to tell whether the Rishon Symphony Orchestra or the audience enjoyed themselves more. Enjoy it yourself…!
Shalom!
