Disc 1, the live CD.
With ten songs from the Summer Breeze Festival (2009) and seven tracks from the Bamberg Winterbreath Festival (2007) you are up for more then seventy minutes of Legion Of The Damned live. The sound is good, the band is playing tight as always and the strong performance by the band gets the crowd going as well. On top of that singer Maurice does his best to interact with the audience and all of this makes the CD highly recommendable for everybody who has seen this band playing live before and who was satisfied about it. I would like to say “Play loud and enjoy” about it. Or as they say in the native language of the band: “Drei maar lekker hel en veul plezeer der mit.”

Disc 2, DVD 1.
This DVD starts with an introduction by Maurice and that’s a rather original idea. Then we see twelve tracks from the same Summer Breeze gig as performed on the CD presented on screen very well. A couple of cameras make sure that you don’t miss a thing and the close ups are switching with some atmospheric black and white shots from the crowd. The gig is played enthusiastically and decent and you really have to check out on the face of drummer Erik in action. This dude can look so damn serious, it almost must hurt. The fourteen songs from the Thrash Assault Festival (2009) are filmed with a handy cam and because of this some kind of hazy and shady images can be seen. On the set list we see a couple of tracks whom are not played every time and this is a nice surprise. Looking at this gig gives me a bit of that old fashioned “eighties video feeling” and there is nothing wrong with that. The third part of this disc is a summarise of the Legion Of The Damned fan day which was held in November 2009. About ten happy headbangers came to Panningen. (Yeah, Panningen, try to look that up for a challenge). Some of them even came all the way from Italy by camper! In Panningen the fans got treated very well by the band. A couple of beers in the shed/practice room of the band, then playing together with the band and later on a night of drinks and food and even more… You can all see it here, this fan day was a great idea by the band and the fans had a fantastic day out.

Disc 3, DVD 2.
The last disc begins with another Legion Of The Damned live part. This time we see twelve songs from the Party San 2008 show and again everything is put on your screen very well via close ups and different camera angels. I noticed that during this concert bass player Harold does not get that much attention, but this is being made up for a bit by the fireworks that show up. This show is presented a bit slower when we talk about shots that follow up and I like that. The band is also playing very well again and so there is nothing to complain about this part either. The second part of disc three contains a lot of different stuff such as the DVD trailer, an “on the road” report about gigs in Turkey and Portugal, a live song from Graspop 2009 and from Metalcamp 2008, two studio reports and a decent report from the ‘Full Of Hate’ tour with bands like Obituary and Amon Amarth. These reports and live clips are fun to watch although most of you already know what to expect from these common items. I still enjoy these efforts. They make me visit places that I would otherwise not visit like cities or backstage areas or a bar in Munich for example. The last item of this package with Legion Of The Damned material are four official and one non-official clip of the band. Again Maurice tells us first a bit about them and this makes you going to watch the clips from another perspective.

As you can see here in my review this ‘Slaughtering…’ release is fully packed with interesting Legion Of The Damned stuff. And yes, I can imagine that some people will ask themselves what they must do with more then five hours of Legion Of The Damned in your living room. But I can also imagine that people want to buy a Legion Of The Damned live album or DVD and via this ‘Slaughtering…’ release they get a lot of extra stuff added as well. For both sides is a solution available because the ‘Slaughtering…’ release will be available in different formats. So go to the website of the band and just order the one that fits you best. And then... let’s fucking slaughter!
