"1+1" by Nils Lofgren's early band "Grin" is for many Rock fans one of the most remarkable albums in the history of Rock 'n' Roll. How much Nils was and is still in demand as a guitarist by many major artists in the Rock scene can be most easily measured by the many invitations he receives. Neil Young took him into his band "Crazy Horse". Nils joined their tour and can be heard on Neil's album "After The Goldrush" as well as "Tonight's The Night".
He has been touring with "Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band" since 1984. All of this would have been the fulfilment of anybody's Rock 'n' Roll dream. But not for Nils Lofgren. Besides his talent as a guitarist, he is also a noted songwriter, which is seen through the large number of solo albums he has released. There are very few cover songs on these albums, but his arrangement of "Anytime At All" by "The Beatles" is probably one of the most beautiful.
In Germany Nils Lofgren was only known to a few insiders in May 1976, the date of his concert at the WDR-Studio L. His performance carried so much conviction, however, that he was invited to perform at the Grugahalle Essen soon after.
On 6 October 1979 he played live in front of a huge TV audience at the 5th Rocpalast Eurovision Night. It was such a wild time that afterwards in Rockpalast history it became known as the "Crazy Night of the Full Moon".
