The 'Bay-Car Blues Festival' takes place in the north-western part of France, in the city of Grande-Synthe near Dunkerque. Since its inception in 2000, more than 4,000 blues fans attend the festival every year. Besides major blues shows on the main stage, the festival has gained international recognition through their 'Chapelles Blues', performances by blues artists in private environments, keeping alive the tradition of house rent parties.
The 2006 performance by SHARRIE WILLIAMS & THE WISEGUYS was filmed professionally with five tv cameras. Additionally, sound was recorded by a 24-track mobile audio studio. The DVD was directed and edited by Markus Wustmann who also produced CrossCuts award-winning concert DVD featuring B.B. & The Blues Shacks (cvd 5001).
SHARRIE WILLIAMS hails from Saginaw, Michigan, a city near Detroit with a population of 62,000. Her father was a jazz and gospel singer during the 1950s and '60s. Her mother, grandmother and an aunt sang gospel in church. Unsurprisingly, SHARRIE started her vocal career in church, too. But she loved secular music as well and started her band, THE WISEGUYS in 1997.
SHARRIE calls Aretha Franklin, Etta James or Pattie LaBelle her sources of inspiration. With her special blend of gospel-drenched blues, soul and hard driving rock she has taken Europe by storm.
Since the release of her CrossCut debut CD 'Hard Drivin' Woman' in 2004, SHARRIE WILLIAMS & THE WISEGUYS have performed all over Europe and the U.S.A. With her smoky and sexy style the talented singer is touching souls and winning favours. On this high-quality audio CD she's entertaining a fascinated audience with charm and power, backed by her young and rock-solid international band. MARCO FRANCO from Saginaw has been with Sharrie's band since an early stage; PIETRO TAUCHER was born and lives in Florence, Italy. LARS KUTSCHKE tours with his own trio when he's not travelling with The Wiseguys. He lives in Dresden, Germany. Youngest member of the band is LARRICE BYRD from Nashville, Tennessee. This year will see her first tours to Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkey.
