549.00Kč

Nine Hundred Nights is the story of the brief reign of the pivotal 60’s psychedelic rock group Big Brother and the Holding Company. Although they will always be remembered as the band who launched the career of Janis Joplin, Big Brother also occupy a significant place in the history of San Francisco psychedelia in their own right.

The DVD follows the band from their formation in 1965, through the arrival of Janis Joplin in mid 1966, their first two albums in 1967 and 1968 and on to Joplin’s departure in 1969.

The programme contains classic footage of the band performing live on TV and in concert (including footage from Monterey), interviews with the members of the band and their contemporaries and rarely seen rehearsal and studio performances.

Nine Hundred Nights is an absolute must for any Janis Joplin fan, with some of her most scintillating performances caught on film, but is also a brilliant snapshot of the psychedelic era of the late 60’s.

Bonus features include:
1) Complete Performances – Unedited live TV performances of Down On Me and The Coo Coo and complete live performances of Ball And Chain and Piece Of My Heart
2) Rare Audio Recording – Hall Of The Mountain King
3) Discography – Albums and videos by Big Brother & the Holding Co and Janis Joplin
4) Photo Gallery – A) Posters B) The Band C) Treasures
5) Biographical Time Line – Key points from 1965 to 1969
6) Interview Outtakes – additional footage edited from the main program
