Test Dept - Programme For Progress - DVD

The first ever DVD to feature one of the UK's major Industrial bands, Test Dept. More expressly political than their German counterparts Einstürzende Neubauten, Test Dept followed the same tack: A creative use of the ethos in which diverse objects (including large amounts of scrap metal and power tools) can be used as instruments.
Formed in London's New Cross in 1981 by Graham Cunnington, Paul Jamrozy, Angus Farquhar, Toby Burdon and Paul Hines, the quintet became renowned for the staging of huge multimedia events at obscure venues - the huge Art Deco BR Maintainance Depot at Paddington, Cannon Street Station, both in London, a railway works in Glasgow, an Italian sand quarry, a Welsh car factory, to name a few - and their political agenda, which has included action and support for the Striking Miners in 1984, action against apartheid, the rise of neo-Nazism and Britain's Criminal Justice Act.
The band originally released "Program For Progress" in 1984 before the release of their first album "Beating The Retreat", giving equal status to the visual side of their work. Consisting of films made for some of the tracks from the album as well as some material unavailable elsewhere, "Program For Progress" is presented here on DVD for the very first time. A stunning and visually unique presentation, the DVD is a must for all fans of the band.
With a rich history including three top twenty Independent Chart albums (one reaching number two), Test Dept retain a loyal fanbase, and the band?s first ever DVD release will be very popular with fans new and old!
