Among the most enduring rock bands of all time, Wishbone Ash are creators of exciting and innovative music. As progenitors of the twin-guitar sound later adopted as standard by countless followers (Thin Lizzy to name but one), Wishbone Ash's creative restlessness is a thing of legend. Fascinating fans now for exactly four decades and yielding a vast catalogue of studio albums along with a dozen-odd live releases, Wishbone Ash may have had their share of line-up changes (a fact synonymous with most band's with a similar longevity), but throughout all their incarnations, one facet has remained constant the creation of exciting, challenging and evocative rock music. Starting life in the seaside resort of Devon, bassist Martin Turner and drummer friend Steve Upton took this genesis through various line-up and name changes before a re-location to London and a well-placed advert in Melody Maker blew-in the talents of not one but two guitarists, Andy Powell and the youngest member, Ted Turner. With their instinctive ability to intertwine harmonic guitar parts and with a wash of harmony vocals, Wishbone Ash landed that elusive worldwide record deal with MCA Records. What followed was a series of stunning albums choked with unforgettable songs which were showcased on endless globetrotting tours thrilling their expanding fan-base night-after-night. The departure of Ted Turner following album number four was a seemingly fatal body blow but in his replacement Laurie Wisefield, Wishbone Ash found another talented writer and performer upon which a new era and more lineal direction was fashioned. Today, the Wishbone Ash legacy is up-held by the talents of two, albeit separately operating, original members. Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash curates the extensive Wishbone Ash heritage upon which he was an integral writer and performer, whilst Andy Powell's Wishbone Ash continues to push the boundaries with new and individual album releases which explore his personal muse although remaining essentially, Wishbone Ash.
