Queen's eleventh studio album "The Works" was released in 1984 and in contrast with their previous synthesizer dominated 1982 release "Hot Space", the album was something of a return to their classic guitar led sound. In retrospect it has been viewed as the album that successfully established the band in Europe after a slump in popularity selling 12 million copies worldwide. The highlights on the album are many and varied, but those which are particularly apparent include the now classic "Radio Ga Ga" and "I Want To Break Free" along with the lesser known hard-rocking gems "Hammer To Fall" and "Tear It Up". With a position as one of the band's later classics, this album, particularly in it's newly remastered form, deserves a place on shelf of any classic rock enthusiast. (Adam Bibby)
