The Louisiana slide guitar wizard's 11th album is something completely different, his first all-instrumental outing and his most adventurous work to date. "Elemental Journey" features guest stars handpicked by Landreth himself, including Joe Satriani who delivers an astonishing solo on track one, and Eric Johnson. The album blossoms with unexpected yet seamless juxtapositions with Spanish atmospherics enwrapped with visceral bursts of rock and jazz, along with Jamaican inspired grooves and Zydeco romancing classical.
