Enchantment were formed in 1967 at Pershing High School in Detroit and secured their first recording contract two years later by winning first place in a talent contest sponsored by WCHB radio station. ENCHANTMENT was released in 1977 and reached the #11 position in the R&B album chart. COME ON AND RIDE was the first single release from ENCHANTMENT and reached #67 on the R&B chart leading the way for bigger success with the follow up singles. GLORIA was the second single and gained the group national acclaim in the US reaching #5 in the R&B chart and #25 in the Pop chart. GLORIA was one of the biggest songs of 1976-77. SUNSHINE followed up on their previous single releases success reaching #3 in the R&B charts and #45 in the Pop charts.
