Willie Hutch enjoyed more than a dozen R&B chart hits throughout the 1970s during his time with Motown Records, where, as well as being the studio talent behind albums by Smokey Robinson (producing solo LPs 'Smokey' and 'Pure Smokey') and Michael Jackson ('Got To Be There' LP) and tracks by Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross he also gained acclaim with his music scores for the soundtracks of 'Blaxploitation' movies including 'The Mack' and 'Foxy Brown'; music which certainly inspired the hip-hop generation. Before Motown, Willie worked with the 5th Dimension, then launched his own solo career in 1969 with debut LP "Soul Portrait" on RCA. Re-issued here, 40 years later, by Shout! Records, for the first time on CD.
