Who did these three guys think they were, harshing everyone's mellow with the loudest, noisiest, heaviest guitar thud anybody had ever heard until then, and turning classics like Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" and Mose Allison's "Parchment Farm" into sludgy, distorted riff-fests So not only were they arguably the first heavy metal band, but you could also make a case for them being among the first punk rockers.
