Originally founded by sadly missed vocalist David Byron, and guitarist Mick Box by now Uriah Heep has often been referred to as "one of the greatest bands from the '70s". A definition that without doubt tells one side of the story of this magnificent band, which has always stood in the top line with Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. In contrast to these other great bands Uriah Heep have always been mainly focussed on the flowery and melodic aspects of the genre. Many of Uriah Heep's songs sparkle due to sophisticated songwriting, fascinating harmony backing vocals and unexcelled catchy melodies. During the years the band ran through an amazing number of reformations, with Mick Box always at the helm, supported by the great talent of ex Bowie/Ziggy band Trevor Bolder on bass who shared most of the Uriah Heep history with him. Like all bands, Uriah Heep went through highs and lows but their audience never stopped loving them, probably because Uriah Heep music never let them down and remained at high levels even in the darkest moments. In their 40 year musical career Uriah Heep released 21 studio-albums. Altogether their records sold more than 30 million units worldwide. Today's line-up is Mick Box (Guitar/Vocals), Bernie Shaw (Lead Vocal), Trevor Bolder (Bass), Phil Lanzon (Keyboards/Vocals) and Russell Gilbrook (Percussion/Vocals). With the exception of the new extraordinary drummer Gilbrook, this line up is by far the most enduring of all. Uriah Heep haven't forgotten how to rock, that's for sure. The evidence to this statement is this live CD presenting their classic rock songs as fresh as if they wrote those pieces just a heartbeat ago, at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2009. Mick Box and his Heeps take you on a ride through their greatest hits. This ecstatic journey begins with a great version of "Sunrise", showing once again that those guys don't need any special effects and background singers. A guitar solo by Mick Box in "Look At Youself" that literally lends the heat of hell for a moment and sets the stage on fire is followed by songs such as "July Morning" which proves Uriah Heep's steadiness in classic rock and creates an atmosphere that seems timeless and makes the song appear as if it was a soundtrack of a blockbuster. If you want to name the one song everybody knows and loves, it would be "Lady in Black" which heralds the tremendous finale of the CD. The show was made available on DVD on the limited edition of the latest Uriah Heep studio album "Celebration". The show is released for the first time on CD. One of the greatest bands of the 70's just celebrated it's 40th anniversary.// Great digi-pack package
