Divine is probably one of the most outrageous performers ever to grace the music charts. These two shows were both filmed in Manchester, England in 1983 nine months apart, just as his recording career was taking off, and show him at his tasteless and tacky best. From his appearance in 1966 in his first John Waters film until his death in 1988, Divine always courted controversy. Love him or hate him you can't help but find him talented and very funny.
Both performances were shot at Manchester's legendary Hacienda club. Divine had 5 UK hit singles between 1982 and 1984. He has retained a cult status (especially in the gay community) over the years.
