Twenty years after their first record, Violeta de Outono plays at Sao Paulo’s Teatro Popular SESI for the first time with a 20-member chamber orchestra. This ensemble, conducted by Juliano Suzuki, was formed by young musicians from several other ensembes around the state. The original three piece (Fabio Golfetti, Angelo Pastorello & Claudio Souza) are accompanied by a string section (violin, cello and string bass), horns (trumpet, French horn and trombone), besides a percussion set, have created a contrasting sound while at the same time intermingling the band’s own psychedelic sound with classical music. This concert, recorded in November 2004, is the band’s first official DVD release. Among the tracks featured are favourites like “Outono”, “Declínio de Maio” and some unreleased material plus their legendary rendition of Lennon/McCartney’s “Tomorrow Never Knows”. Over 60 minutes of pure magic psychedelia created and performed by one of Brazil’s greatest rock icons.
