Blow Monkeys - Animal Magic: Live - DVD

The BlowMonkeys appeared on the UK music scene during the early 1980's. Fronted by the enigmatic Dr Robert, they started their recording career with RCA Records in 1984 and released several singles including "Man From Russia", "Atomic Lullaby" and "Forbidden Fruit". It wasn't long before the distinctive fusion of jazz and soul won the hearts of the British record buying public. However, beneath that super smooth exterior lay a passionate anti-Thatcher streak that led to an outright ban by the BBC during the General Election. But, by then, The BlowMonkeys had already ensured a permanent place in the eighties music hall of fame.

Recorded at the Marquee Club, London on 21st May 1985, this DVD is a rare opportunity to see The BlowMonkeys live in all their glory. A performance that is both musically and visually fascinating, this epitomises the eclectic nature of the eighties music scene as Dr Robert and the band perform the very best of their early catalogue alongside some interesting covers - T.Rex's timeless classic 'Get It On' and Tom Jones' peerless 'It's Not Unusual'. Unadulterated, nostalgic joy!
