At long last a great live DVD featuring the "Night Tripper" himself AKA Dr John.This is no different from his usual eclectix mix of pop,soul,jazz,funk,blues,gospel and the Doc's own special ingredient - those gravelly rasping vocals.He is supported by a stellar eight piece band and on some of the longer pieces there is a chance for the likes of "Red" Tyler(tenor sax),Ronnie Cuber (Baritone sax) and Charlie Miller(trumpet) to take some nice solos.The live sound is good and the picture quality is also well up to the standard you would expect from a DVD.
Tracks like "iko iko","Renegade" and "Right place wrong time" are performed in time honoured tradition from this top quality band.There are also three bonus tracks from the 1985 festival which feature Dr John solo with piano rather than a full band but one of those tracks "Mac's Boogie" is as good a piece of two handed boogie woogie as you'll hear in a long time and a real treat.
All in all a great DVD and highly recommended for all fans of the good Doctor.Great stuff.
