Features: Interactive Menus, Scene Selection, Production Notes, Making Of Feature, Featurette Handlung: The film opens with the band's famed
1967 American TV debut on The Smothers Brothers Show and
continues through Monterey Pop, Woodstock and on into
the 1970s. Twenty-two classic Who tunes are featured,
including the title track The Kids Are Alright and
special versions of My Generation, Magic Bus, Happy
Jack, and Long Live Rock. Other tracks were re-mixed
using the best existing sources to ensure that the DVD
presents The Who's music at maximum fidelity. These new
re-mixes were specially engineered in London by
long-time Who associates Jon Astley and Andy McPherson.
However, special attention must be paid to the
remastered 5.1 (dts and Dolby Digital) versions of Won't
Get Fooled Again and Baba O'Riley, both shot especially
for the movie and reborn in this digital presentation.
Incidentally they represent Keith Moon's last
performance with the band, shot shortly before his
untimely death in September '78.
This Special Edition 2-disc DVD
includes the bonus disc Won't Get Filmed Again. Clocking
in at around two and a half hours of rare material, this
disc contains brand new interviews with key participants
Roger Daltrey (Behind Blue Eyes) and director Jeff Stein
(See My Way), a virtual tour of London, trivia games and
a multi-angle performance segment. All the titles of the
segments are playfully drawn from Who song titles. Most
of disc 2's supplementary material is dedicated to
detailing what went into the restoration of this
project, from both a philosophical standpoint as well as
a technical one, making it fascinating for movie fans as
well as fans of The Who.
